Aixé Djelal (pronounced “eye-SHAY” “jeh-LAL”)
is the founder and designer of yummypurse. She lives in an excellent
warehouse in Portland, Oregon, USA. “I look at the world through purse colored glasses – buildings,
food, sculpture, weather, and animals all inform my designs,“ says Aixé. “Purses
should be art objects, homes for your belongings. The inside is as important
as the outside. When you open your purse, you should be happy to see that your
stuff lives in a gorgeous, bright little space. There is no excuse for a dull
purse interior!”
Aesthetic:
If Grace Kelly went to the X Games, she would surely carry
a yummypurse.
(Elegant + practical + exciting = yummypurse)
Newsworthy:
Aixé and
yummypurse enjoyed 6 minutes of fame on an episode of HGTV's
Crafters Coast to Coast. The
Oregonian's Personal Style section profiled Aixé in the
December 8, 2004 PS designer spotlight. Click

Where
to buy:
There are some remaining stock Yummypurses available through http://yummypurse.etsy.com,
but they are being phased out as Aixé is getting bored silly of
making the same purses over and over. However, if you are interested in
commissioning a custom purse that perfectly suits your needs, please drop
Aixé a line to discuss the possibilities.
About
the bags:
All bags are made in Portland, Oregon USA and contain no animal products (well,
except for the silk from the silkworms). They are tested on willing humans who
report back to Aixé about their performance. These bags are built to last
using a combination of gorgeous and unusual fabrics paired with rugged materials
commonly used in sporting goods.
Features:
All
bags are fully lined and have a key strap with a mini-carabiner keychain
(tough enough for your keys, but don’t use it for rock climbing).
Most bags also have interior pockets.
Nylon
webbing is the foundation of yummypurse handles for durability and comfort.
The webbing is stylized and cleverly incorporated into the design of
the purse itself.

Hip
utilitarian closures of various sorts are a feature of all bags, proving
that practicality and style are a logical and exciting combination.
